“12 Months of TC” – The Best Babysitting Service!

TC best babysitting service

Why are we the best babysitting service? Let us count the ways!

Our award-winning agency is a favorite among local families.  We are a brick-and-mortar agency that meets and throughly vets every candidate . With one of the most rigorous screening processes in the industry, our clients can rest assured that our sitters are truly the best in the area. As a member , you’ll have access to an entire team of agency-employed nannies and sitters and 24/7 emergency back-up care 365 days a year, even at a moment’s notice.

Aside from offering the highest quality care, our women-owned business has certainly accomplished a lot this year. Set to the tune of “The 12 Days of Christmas”, read (or sing!) to learn about the biggest TC news of 2018!

On the 1st Month of TC, our a-a-a-gency….hired Kim and Mallory!

In January, we added to our staff by hiring our Sales and Marketing Assistant, Kim. Then, we added Mallory, our Tucson Flex Director, to our TC family. Both of these incredible ladies have now been with us almost a year. This was a huge deal since Caroline and Rosalind have such a hard time taking their hands off the wheel. Both of these women quickly became such an integral part of our team!

On the 2nd Month of TC, our a-a-a-gency…bought a lot of cookies!

We carried on our annual tradition of supporting female entrepreneurialism  and promised to buy cookies from every girl scout who came to our office with a sales pitch in February. Girls were lining up out the door for a chance to meet and be inspired by our founders. Our nannies and staff made bracelets with the girls while they were waiting and passed out snacks. Some girls made up their own jingles, some danced, and one little daisy made her own business cards.

On the 3rd month of TC, our a-a-a-gency…decided on expansion!

Early in March, Rosalind and Caroline were discussing an unrelated matter via phone, when they made a very unexpected decision to fast-forward their expansion plans and launch our third location in the summer. This left only four months for our staff to prepare for the opening of our Phoenix location but we rocked it.

On the 4th month of TC, our a-a-a-gency….got a new look!

Rosalind decided that the old look had to go, and in April, we revealed a new TC logo. Sounds simple enough but it was quite an undertaking, rebranding our entire agency. Later, in the summer we launched a new website as well. Not only can you read about our babysitting service membership or how to hire the best nanny, you can also learn the story of how TC got started and see an embarrassing glamour shot of our founders in middle school!

On the 5th Month of TC, our a-a-a-gency…..threw an epic pa-a-arty!

The International Nanny Association held their annual conference at the J.W. Marriott in Tucson this year and all conference attendees were invited to our office. We were so thrilled to be able to host a fun, post-conference fiesta….Tucson style! Our guests came from all over the world. They enjoyed El Guero Canelo food truck delicacies, local Arizona wines and margaritas served by a sommelier, live country music from Caiden Brewer and even a cactus-shaped piñata.  We had maybe a little too much fun dancing the night away.

On the 6th month of TC, our a-a-a-gency….began a special project!

Our Executive Assistant, Ashley, spearheaded a community outreach program in partnership with Diamond Children’s hospital in June. Each month, our office team and a few nannies visit the hospital to host a story time and craft. We are still on the hunt for a children’s hospital in the DFW and Phoenix area to expand this program.

On the 7th month of TC, our a-a-agency…..opened up in Phoenix!

In July, we were officially open for business and ready to serve families and nannies all over The Valley. Our physical office space is in Chandler. Ana Rizzo was hired to serve as the Phoenix Flex Director and Placement Coordinator. She would love a visit from you!

On the 8th month of TC our a-a-a-gency….got a knocked up Founder!

Need we say more? It’s been a long journey and Caroline has been so wonderfully open about her struggles with infertility. She is such an inspiration and we are so happy for her and her husband, Austin! We are especially looking forward to baby snuggles in the office, come April! Luckily, she owns the best babysitting service in town. So she won’t have to worry about finding great help! How priceless is her pregnancy announcement? (P.S. A BIG shout out to Arizona Reproductive Institute, especially to Dr. Mansfield and Leah Offerdahl for all their expertise and support throughout Caroline and Austin’s journey. We HIGHLY recommend them!)

On the 9th of month TC our a-a-a-agency …won a Copper Cactus!

We were SO honored to find out that we were a finalist for the Copper Cactus Award for Small Business Growth in September. Nominees were judged on gross revenue, employee growth and compensation expenditure growth. We found out in October that we WON!

On the 10th month of TC our a-a-a-gency…did a ribbon cutting!

We had a super fun Fall Family Festival-themed ribbon cutting event to celebrate the opening of our Phoenix location. The Chandler Chamber of Commerce was there, along with friends, colleagues and family who came out to show their support. Rosalind and Caroline continued the tradition of having their moms stand by their side as they cut the ribbon. Some happy tears were shed. It could have just been the mimosas.

On the 11th month of TC, our a-a-a-gency…spoke to lots of Girl Scouts!

Caroline and Rosalind were super thrilled that they were asked to speak for the G.I.R.L. Conference put on by the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona. They held a workshop on “personal branding” and encouraged each girl to recognize and appreciate her own uniqueness and helped the girls write out core values.

On the 12th month of TC, our a-a-a-gency …adopted three great families!

Our annual holiday charity project has grown this year with a third agency. This year we are surprising three very deserving families with some holiday gifts…a single mom with infant twins whose husband passed away in August, a single mom with five boys including two with special needs, and a family with six children dealing with some health and financial stressors. Thank you to those of you who have made financial and in-kind contributions to this special project. We are so grateful! ….. But the biggest and best highlight of this year and every year has been serving and supporting our amazing families and nannies, to whom we owe so much gratitude. You are the reasons why we do what we do and we are so grateful that you have given us the opportunity to be a part of your lives. Happy Holidays and Best Wishes in 2019!

Halloween 2018 Safety Tips For Parents

Trusting Connections Nanny Agency - Safety Tips For This Halloween

By now, you may have your kid’s costume all planned, have around 5-10 pounds of candy bags, and your house all decked out with spooktacular decorations. Halloween is next week, but before you let your precious ones out, there are some safety suggestions parents should consider.

Here are some safety tips from the American Heart Association parents can follow to ensure your family has a fun and safe Halloween.

Tips For Trick-O-Treaters

  • Use flame-resistant costumes.
  • Plan a Trick-or-Treat route – Parents should know where the children are going. A parent or chaperone should accompany young children. It’s also a good idea to take routes where there are lots of fellow Trick-or-Treaters.
  • Make sure Trick-or-Treaters can see, and be seen. Provide a flashlight for the kids to use. If needed, add reflective tape to their costume or Trick-or-Treat bags.
  • Be cautious around animals, especially dogs.
  • Walk, never run.
  • Only visit homes with a porch light on.
  • Kids should accept treats at the door. Never go inside the house. Visit homes with the porchlights on.
  • Always steer away from the street. Find a sidewalk, if not sidewalk is available, walk on the edge of the roading facing traffic.
  • Always, always, look both ways before crossing a street. Follow traffic light and pedestrian signs and signals.
  • Check the treats before letting your kids eat. Make sure to throw away candy that is unwrapped, open packages, choking hazards, etc. Discard any items with brand names that you are not familiar with.

Parents should take be extra careful if the kids have food allergies. Click here for tips on how you can celebrate Halloween for Kids with food allergies.

Tips for Treat Givers

If you are planning to hand out treats, follow these safety tips:

  • Sweep leaves from your sidewalks and steps. Make sure your Halloween decorations are out of the way to prevent any injuries from falling or tripping.
  • Restrain your pets.
  • Make sure your porch light is on, and your home is well-lit so young visitors can see.

Most importantly, we want everyone, kids and adults, to have a fun Halloween. To see more parenting tips, check out our blog!

Fun Halloween Projects With The Kids!

trusting connections nannies and sitters - halloween crafts for kids

Halloween is in two weeks, but your kids might already be celebrating in jubilant spirit. Even though trick-or-treating is weeks away, engage in fun Halloween-themed projects nannies and sitters can do with the kids to make their wait more fun.

These projects are designed to be interactive and engaging so kids will enjoy it from beginning to end. Parents can do these projects on the weekend or have their nannies and sitters do them with their kids during the week. These projects can help fine-tuned the kids’ senses and fine motor skills all the while having fun!

Here are two projects Trusting Connections know not only the kids will love but also will the nannies and sitters. One project will have the kids get messy as they will have to use their senses to touch and feel the ‘wormy’ objects. The other project will challenge kids to dig into their web of creativity. These projects are so easy to do, and most of the supplies needed are common household items.

Jelly Worms – A slimy, yet delicious treat for the kiddos!

trusting connections nannies and sitters - halloween crafts for kids

Yields: 50 worms

Ingredients:

– 50 flexible straws
– 7 oz. package strawberry Jell-O mix
– 3 packages unflavored gelatin
– 3 c. boiling water
– 3/4 c. heavy cream
– A tall glass or container
– A bowl or plate
– (Optional) Crushed Oreos, for serving

Directions:

  1. Combine Strawberry Jell-O mix and all the unflavored gelatin packages into a tall glass or container. Add boiling water. Whisk until dissolved. Refrigerate until lukewarm.
  2. Stretch and extend the straws out to full length. Stand them upright in a tall glass. Make sure the ends are firmly pressed up against the bottom of the glass. This will add length to the jelly worms.
  3. Take out the Jell-O mixture and whisk in heavy cream.
  4. Slowly pour the JELL-O mixture into the straws until it reaches the tops.
  5. Refrigerate for about 1-2 hours.
  6. Run the straws through warm water. Grab one end of the straw and push the jelly worms out onto a plate or bowl. Add crush Oreos to the plate to mimic dirt if desired.
  7. Make this activity more educational for the kids by having them use their sense of touch to feel the worms and the texture of the straws and crushed dirt.

Spider Balloon Web – A sticky activity kids will love!

trusting connections nannies and sitters - halloween crafts for kids

Supplies:

– White wool/yarn (1 bundle)
– Bowl
– Balloons
– Glue
– Water
– Fake plastic spiders
– Hot glue gun

Directions:

  1. Inflate some balloons. Make different sizes to create more dimension to your webs.
  2. Attached a piece of string to the end of the balloon so you can tie them up to dry later.
  3. In a bowl, add glue and water. Mix into a paste. Keep it at a 2:1 ratio.
  4. Add the yarn/wool into the bowl until it’s fully coated with the paste.
  5. Grab the end of the coated yarn and start wrapping it around the balloon. Grab the end of the balloon to use as a guide. Continue to wrap the yarn/wool around until you form a spider web.
  6. Hung the spider webs onto a tree outside to dry. Use the string you attached at the end of the balloon.
  7. Once it’s dry, the spider web should have hardened. Pop the balloon and remove it from the spider web.
  8. Hot glue some fake plastic spiders to complete the look.
  9. Hang them in front of your door or on your tree. The different sizes of spider webs will have kids running over to look in awe!

National Nanny Recognition Week – Tucson

Trusting Connections Tucson Nannies

In celebration of National Nanny Recognition Week, Trusting Connections would like to dedicate a few blog posts this week to highlight some of our wonderful TC nannies.
————————

As National Nanny Recognition Week comes to an end, we want to remind and encourage our families and readers to continue to celebrate and support nannies and other childcare professionals throughout the year. As an award-winning nanny agency, Trusting Connections will continue to strive and focus on being nanny advocators and industry educators.

This blog post is dedicated to all our wonderful TC Tucson nannies! We have a great team, but we wanted to take this time out to highlight three individuals who have shown us time after time how great of a nanny they are to our Tucson families.

We reached out to our Tucson nannies, Constance Cassens, Phyllis Clark, and Tiffany Robinson for a quick Q&A session. Take a look into their perspective on being a nanny and why they love doing what they do!

Q: Why did you become a nanny? How’s your experience being a nanny been thus far?
C: I became a nanny for the flexibility and variety. My experience thus far has allowed me to travel, move, and not tie myself down.

P: Becoming a nanny has probably been my best move in this time of my life. With 30 years of early childhood, I thought I was ready for retirement. I found I was missing something. Kids!

T: I became a Nanny because I needed summer work while the pre-school I worked at was closed for the summer. It had been my intention to only work for the summer, but I fell in love with my Nanny position. When Caroline offered me the Corporate Care position, it was an offer I could not refuse. I am in school to become an Early Childhood Education/Special Education teacher, being a nanny gives me the flexibility I need to concentrate on school while working a position I love. So far, being a nanny for Trusting Connections has been such a blessing in my life. I love going to work every day.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about being a nanny?
C: My favorite thing about being a nanny is being able to let my freak flag fly! I get to act goofy and be creative without being judged by the kiddos.

P: Being a nanny allows you to bond with the children and their families. You can teach so many things, and it’s a one on one relationship.

T: My favorite thing about being a nanny is knowing that I am helping families and making a difference in the life of such wonderful little ones. I love providing quality childcare. My corporate care position is awesome because I get to spend time with so many different families. I have gotten to know so many amazing people.

Q: If you could recall one of the most memorable moments/advice from being a nanny, what would it be?
C: My most memorable moments would have to be tagging along with my favorite family to Mexico. It was a fun time, and I felt greatly appreciated.

P: I’ve had the pleasure of being apart of one little guy’s life since he’s been three months old. Now he’s crawling, standing, eating food and chatting up a storm. There is more to come and I am so lucky to be involved with his life. Some advice: Be safe, be kind, be respectful and patient. Most importantly, when your nanny bag is full, you’ll be a hit every time. When I have the opportunity to visit other families’ homes, Trusting Connections makes sure you are always prepared. The family profiles are very helpful. I study the profile completely and make sure the family feels like I know all about the needs for the day.

T: I have had so many memorable moments as a nanny, but one of my favorites is three days I got to spend with one child. We had three days chock full of board games, baking, and art! We never had a dull moment. I try to plan meaningful activities with all the kids I am with. The best advice I have been given as a nanny is to keep a nanny bag with lots of options for fun! This was so memorable to me because this child has had some rough spots in life, but her Grandma told me the three days with me made such a difference for her. I love that I helped make a child happy.

Q: Do you think nannies & sitters are important people? Why so?
C: Yes I think nannies and sitters are very important people. We are professional caregivers, teachers, and role models to all children.

T: I do believe that Nannies and sitters make a huge difference. I have worked with families that were terrified to leave their new babies for the first time but now treat us as extensions of their families. We provide loving care for children when their parents can’t be there, I know as a mother of four, knowing my kids where safe and happy meant more to me then I could ever express. The world needs nannies and sitters just as we need doctors, nurses, and police. We provide a much-needed service to families and children.

Q: What are your thoughts on National Nanny Recognition Week?
C: NNRW just goes to show how much families appreciate nannies and all that we do. It does take a village to raise a child and nannies play a big role.

P: Being recognized is always amazing. That extra pat on the back makes what you do even more worthwhile. Trusting Connections is very good about letting you know you’re amazing. National recognition adds the cherry on top!

T: I think that nanny appreciation week is super cool. It is nice to have people shed a little light on the hard work that we do. I am honored to be a part of this important event.

Thank you so much to all of our wonderful Tucson nannies for their hard work and dedication! Let us know if you would like us to interview more of our nannies by leaving a comment below! We also want to take this time to thank you again to all of our DFW, Phoenix, and Tucson nannies for being on our team! TC would be nothing without our awesome nannies!

We hope this week can shed light on the vital roles nannies play in the children’s life.

———-

Did you know nannies are legally recognized as household employees? That means our nannies are and should be acknowledged as professional childcare providers and caregivers. Trusting Connections is committed to advocating for our nannies by offering support and recognition throughout the year.

National Nanny Recognition Week,  September 23-29th, is a week during which “families, businesses, and the media will be encouraged to focus on the positive aspects of the nanny profession, the important role nannies play in the lives of the families and the wonderful contribution they make in the lives of the children they care for.”
