PARTNERING UP WITH ARIZONAN’S FOR CHILDREN

Trusting Connections is proud to support and celebrate National Literacy Month this November with two signature events.

With a legacy of supporting the communities they serve, Trusting Connections Nanny Agency is proud to partner with Phoenix based non-profit, Arizonan’s for Children and aid in their mission to meet the needs and improve the fragile lives of the children in Arizona’s foster care system.

The partnership provides tangible opportunities for Trusting Connections to use their resources and expertise to support area families.  In keeping with one of their core values to be community servers, Trusting Connections’ Phoenix Care Director, Ana Rizzo and team of agency employed nannies host a monthly book reading and arts/crafts activity at the Arizonans For Children Visitation Center which is a safe, family-friendly space in which children in foster care can safely visit with their parents.

As Care Director and resident Matchmaker for the Phoenix-Chandler location, Rizzo helps connect compatible families and nannies and manages the Phoenix team. She studied cognitive neurosciences with a focus on child/human development at the University of Arizona while working for Trusting Connections as a nanny. Before joining the leadership team, Rizzo worked in conjunction with the Department of Child Safety aiding in the reunification process and providing parenting expertise and aide services. In this role, Ana worked one-on-one with children going through difficult situations and managed therapeutic case plans making her well-suited to oversee and the vision for this partnership.

“Foster children want to be just like other children- with forever families, playing sports, day-dreaming, reading, being read to and participating in a craft session with someone special to them, said Rizzo.  “These events celebrate the tireless efforts of Arizonan’s for Children as just one initiative that supports their work by augmenting their family programming.”

“We are indebted to the nonprofit organizations like Arizonan’s for Children that have a meaningful positive impact on our local communities,” said Rosalind Prather, Trusting Connections Co-Founder. “We are honored to be a small part of their important programs and services.”

Celebrating National Literacy Month – Two Events

In honor of National Family Literacy Day, November 1, which focuses on special activities and events that showcase the importance of family literacy programs and National Literacy month, Trusting Connections will host two events in November. On Nov. 1 they will be reading “If You Give A Mouse a Cookie” by Laura Numeroff and doing mouse shape artwork along with completing an alphabet chart. And on Nov. 19, they will be reading “Thanksgiving is For Giving Thanks” by Margaret Sutherland and enjoying a Thanksgiving craft. All participating families at the November events will receive a reading brochure from the International Reading Association.

About Arizonans for Children

As of July 2019 there are over 13,400 children in foster care in Arizona. While removing children from their dangerous family setting provides needed safety, entering the foster care system does not assure a “normal childhood.” This challenging journey often involves multiple moves, inconsistent care giving, and emotional trauma stemming from feeling helpless and isolated. Arizonans for Children Inc., incorporated as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, exists to facilitate opportunities and provide effective solutions to alleviate hardships and improve the fragile lives of the abused, abandoned, and neglected children in foster care. It is a tragedy, in this present time, far too many children continue to find their well-being jeopardized.
